To make mobile payments a reality, several teams at Telefónica worked on understanding online/offline payment processes. One of these projects was Movistar’s ewallet, an app where users could store and manage their credit cards, coupons, tickets and other buying related information. The SIM on the phone contained a digital version of all the user’s bank cards, and thanks to NFC they could pay directly at point of sale terminals in stores.
